George Washington Hotel
I had the absolute pleasure of caring for Freya, aged 5, and her little brother during their family's wedding at the George Washington Hotel. I spent the day with Freya from 12:00pm until midnight, before welcoming her 9-month-old baby brother into my care from 8:00pm until the end of the evening. Supporting both children allowed their parents to fully relax and enjoy every moment of their special day, knowing they were in safe and experienced hands.
Freya is autistic and non-verbal, so from the moment I arrived my priority was to follow her lead and support her in the way that suited her best, exactly as her parents had hoped. Throughout the day, we focused on movement, regulation and giving her the freedom to enjoy the celebrations at her own pace. When the wedding became busy or overwhelming, we would head back to the room for some quiet time, allowing her to rest, regulate and even have a nap when she needed one. Once she was ready, we returned to the party where she loved dancing and soaking up the atmosphere. Being able to recognise her cues and adapt the day around her individual needs meant she could enjoy the celebration in a way that felt comfortable and enjoyable for her.
From 8:00pm, I also cared for her 9-month-old brother, balancing the different needs of both children while ensuring they each received the attention and care they deserved. It was a privilege to support this wonderful family and create an environment where both children could thrive, allowing their parents to make memories with complete peace of mind. 🤍
